Born in Kingston, Jamaica, actress Sarah Cooper comes from a diverse background. Her father has African and Chinese roots and her mother is Indian and German.
Not long after immigrating from Jamaica to Washington, DC., Sarah fell in love with acting. Throughout grade school, she performed in several plays as well as student-written shows, yet her main focus was Shakespeare. She was a top ten finalist in the English Speaking Union’s Shakespeare Competition two years in a row, and also performed and studied at the Folger Shakespeare Library. Sarah received a full acting scholarship to the University of Maryland at College Park.
After moving to Atlanta, Sarah was signed with Houghton Talent Agency and quickly found roles in several independent films, including Battle, The Fat Boy Chronicles, and short When Strangers Cross. She was most recently on stage as Sophie in a modern take on Neil Simon’s “Star-Spangled Girl,” and as frazzled Spanish maid Marta in Atlanta’s longest running play, “Peachtree Battle”. She recently landed a recurring role as young law student on the fourth season of Lifetime’s hit series, Army Wives. In early 2010, Sarah also began doing stand-up comedy and was a finalist in the Homegrown Comedy Competition at Laughing Skull Lounge in Atlanta, GA.
Sarah is currently studying at the Stella Adler Summer Conservatory in New York, while also writing sketch comedy at Upright Citizen’s Brigade. You can see her in the upcoming feature films Lottery Ticket and Rendezvous, tv pilot presentation Jordan’s River, and in a commercial for Microsoft Bing currently airing on TaxiTV.
